Working Load Limit, WLL, of Fiber core Wire rope @ 3.55:1 Design Factor
3/8" = 3,780 Lbs WLL
7/16" = 5,120 LBS WLL
1/2" = 6,650 LBS WLL
9/16" = 8,390 LBS WLL
5/8" = 10,360LBS WLL
Fiber Core wire rope is designed to be more flexible than Steel Core wire rope. It has a "Fiber core" in the center that helps retain lubricant and makes the rope easier to bend on a drum or snatch block. Due to the lack of a "Steel Core" it does have a lower WLL than steel.
When choosing the correct wire rope for your winch be sure to look on the info tag of the winch or find the manufacturers specifications in the owners manual or their website. It is not recommended to exceed the length or diameter of the original rope.
Wire rope needs to be Maintained and inspected on a regular basis. We highly recommend using Chain Gang as a spray on lubricant for your wire rope.
Tired of buying wore rope for you flat beds because your drivers are always birds nesting it in the drum? Believe it or not we have found that the solution for that is changing it over to Synthetic Rope. It does not get damaged from birds nesting and does not have a memory like wire rope. Check it out on our site for more details.
