Our wire rope assemblies are specifically built for Towing and Recovery as well as mobile boom trucks. Our Winch Lines/ Wire Ropes are constructed with 6X25 wire rope and the 3/4" rope is 6X37 giving it slightly more flexibility. All ropes are Tagged with Working Load Limits, WLL, using a 3.55:1 Safety Factor following ASME/ANSI B30.5 specifications.
Working Load Limit, WLL, of steel core Wire rope @ 3.55:1 Design Factor
3/8" = 4,250 Lbs WLL
7/16" = 5,740 LBS WLL
1/2" = 7,490 LBS WLL
9/16" = 9,520 LBS WLL
5/8" = 11,600 LBS WLL
3/4" = 16,560 LBS WLL
Steel Core Wire rope has a higher WLL and Breaking strength than Fiber core wire rope does. It also resists crushing and damage a little better than Fiber core, However it also is a bit stiffer and remembers damage easier.
When choosing the correct wire rope for your winch be sure to look on the info tag of the winch or find the manufacturers specifications in the owners manual or their website. It is not recommended to exceed the length or diameter of the original rope. Doing so may cause damage to your winch drum.
Wire rope needs to be maintained and inspected on a regular basis. We highly recommend using Chain Gang as a spray on lubricant for your wire rope.
Tired of buying wore rope for you flat beds because your drivers are always birds nesting it in the drum? Believe it or not we have found that the solution for that is changing it over to Synthetic Rope. It does not get damaged from birds nesting and does not have a memory like wire rope. Check it out on our site for more details.
